Privacy policy
No accounts, no ad networks, no data sales. Analytics to see what gets read, and a contact form that emails us what you type.
Last updated August 31, 2026
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not sell data. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read, and the contact form sends us what you type in it. Affiliate links to Amazon are subject to Amazon's own privacy policy once you click through.
What we collect
| What | When | Why | Who processes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Page views, referrer, approximate location, device and browser | On every page view | To understand which pages are useful and which are not | Google Analytics 4 |
| A record that an outbound product link was clicked | When you click a buy link | It is the only way we can tell whether a page is useful commercially | Google Analytics 4 |
| Your name, email address, chosen topic and message | Only if you submit the contact form | So we can read and reply to your message | Microsoft (email delivery), then our inbox |
| IP address, transiently | On contact form submission | Rate limiting, to stop the form being used for spam | Held in memory only, not stored |
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data. To anyone, ever.
- We do not run advertising networks. There are no display ads and no ad-tech trackers on this site.
- We do not have accounts, logins or profiles. There is nothing to sign up for.
- We do not run a newsletter, so we hold no marketing list.
- We do not use fingerprinting or session recording, and there is no chat widget or heatmap tool.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and which outbound links are clicked. That data is aggregated and we use it to decide what to write next. We do not attempt to identify individual readers and the analytics data is not linked to anything you send us through the contact form.
Google is an independent data controller for the information its analytics product collects. Its handling is governed by Google's own privacy policy, linked at the bottom of this page. If you would rather not be counted, standard browser privacy settings and content blockers prevent the analytics script from loading, and the site works normally without it.
Affiliate links
Product links on this site pass through a redirect on our own domain before sending you to the retailer. That redirect exists so a merchant can be changed without rewriting content, and so the click can be counted in our own analytics.
Once you arrive at Amazon you are on Amazon's site and subject to Amazon's privacy policy and cookies, over which we have no control and no visibility. We never see what you looked at or bought; we see only aggregate commission reporting. More on the commercial side in how we are funded.
The contact form
What you type in the form is emailed to us and nowhere else. We keep it as long as it is useful for answering you and for tracking a correction through to a fix, and we do not add contact form senders to any list.
The form uses three anti-spam measures, all worth naming because two of them touch your data: a hidden field that real people never fill in, a timing check on how long the form was open, and a per-IP rate limit that holds your IP address in memory briefly and never writes it to storage. We deliberately do not use a captcha, partly because captchas are a tracking surface.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics may set cookies to distinguish repeat visits; blocking them does not affect the site. The redirect that handles product links is explicitly non-caching and sets no cookie.
Children
This site is aimed at adults buying household products and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold. Since the only thing we hold is a contact form message you chose to send us, that usually means asking us to delete it. Write to info@woolwatt.com and we will.
Changes
We will update this page if what we collect changes, and the last-updated date at the top will change with it. Wool Watt is an online publication with no storefront and no phone line; email is the only route to us.

Every specification on this page traces to a published manufacturer listing or a government data source. Where a maker publishes no wattage, we say so rather than estimating one.
